Makeni South Church was opened in 1998 after a crusade organized by Mt. Makulu SDA church. The late Elder Matipa was the preacher at the crusade in which 62 people were baptized.  These were the first members of the church.  Among them was sister Miyoba Kalimina Zuze and sister Nina Kalimina. The first leaders of the newly formed branch were, Elder N’gono and Elder Mushalika. The first superintendant was Sister Malupande, among other Leaders.

Pastor chabala (Current Personal Ministries Director) upgraded the branch to a company. The First Company Leader was then Deacon Munan’gandu assisted by the Deacon Mulenga.

Later on in 2005 Makeni South SDA Company become a church organized by Pastor Chisala under the administration of Pastor Imoolo.

The first elders were; Elder Munan’gandu, Elder Mulenga and Elder Mizinga. Elder Liften Nzokaitimba was the first Head Deacon. The Dorcas Leader was sister Murombezi. The first Treasurer was sister Mizinga and the first church clerk was sister Judy Makondo and sister Mwamfuli was the first Stewardship Leader.
